CAIRO – 15 November 2017: EgyptAir Company signed contracts to buy 45 new aircrafts of the latest models as part of the national carrier's efforts to renew its fleet, Chairman & CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company Safwat Musallam said.
“This is the biggest bargain in the history of our company, and it was signed during the last Dubai air show for $6 billion,” added Musallam.
The bargain will conclude during the next two years. The number of the EgyptAir fleet is set to reach 54 aircrafts.
The ninth Boeing plane (B737-800 NG) will arrive to Egypt in December as part of a B737-800 NG plane deal.
EgyptAir announced in July the purchase of nine of the latest 737 aircraft, valued at about $864 million.
Eight of the aircrafts are being purchased with the assistance of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), which is partly owned by the government of Dubai.
The 737-800 is the best-selling version of the successful Next-Generation 737 family. Known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and economic performance, the 737-800 is selected by leading carriers throughout the world because it provides operators the flexibility to serve a wide range of markets.
