CAIRO –15 November 2017: Egyptian Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar issued a decree on Tuesday to all registrar's offices throughout the country to ban the notarization of sales, rent or transfer of ownership contracts for apartments in the Asmarat housing project, said Hassan al-Ghandour, president of Asmarat district.
We are taking a full inventory in order to take legal proceedings with anyone sold or rented apartments, who will be evicted from their apartments, added al-Ghandour.
Housing Minister Mostafa Madbouly started the implementation of the investment and service plan for the Asmarat housing project in Cairo's suburb of Mokattam.
In a statement of the Housing Ministry, Madbouly said that there is coordination with the Ministry of Education to start building governmental schools immediately, along with establishing a center for vocational training.
Meanwhile, the minister said coordination is also underway with Cairo governorate to put the investment zone up for investors to get the highest revenue, Madbouly said.
During the meeting, Madbouly urged the officials of the New Urban Communities Authority to put forward a vision for the investment zone and the perfect activities to be established in it.
Khaled Sedeq, executive director of the Slum Development Fund, said that Asmarat is a new example for serving social housing areas.
