Fatwa observatory warns of rumors over Egypt's stability

CAIRO, Nov 14 (MENA) - The Observatory of Takfiri fatwas and extremist views of the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta has warned of rumors circulated on social networking websites that aim at undermining Egypt's security and stability.

The Holy Quran has prohibited the spread of false news in order not to foment sedition in the society, the observatory said.

It also urged the Egyptian people to seek accuracy of news published on social networking websites and foreign media outlets.

According to a study recently conducted by a parliament committee, 53,000 rumors were fanned in Egypt in September and October.
