CAIRO – 12 November 2017: Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and a number of ministers and senior officials from Egypt and Tunisia attended a meeting between President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Head of Government of Tunisia Youssef Chahed, said Bassam Radi, the presidency spokesperson.

Sisi expressed his hope that the meetings of the joint higher Egyptian-Tunisian committee will contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, Radi said.

Sisi also conveyed his greetings to Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi, praising the solidarity between the two countries and between the peoples of Egypt and Tunisia.

On his part, Chahed conveyed to Sisi the greetings of Tunisian President Essebsi.

Chahed also expressed his pleasure with visiting Egypt and participating in the meetings of the joint higher Egyptian-Tunisian committee; pointing to the deep ties between the two countries, as well as the importance of Egypt’s role as a main pillar of security and stability in the Arab world.

Chahed further stressed his country’s interest in bolstering and furthering the already-established relations with Egypt in various fields and advancing bilateral cooperation to achieve the interests of both countries.

During the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of strengthening the Arab countries’ solidarity to enable them in facing the unprecedented challenges.

Chahed and Ismail discussed the Libyan crisis and emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve a resolution that preserves the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya. They also emphasized that solution must not challenge the protection of the Libyan people and their capabilities, or the restoration of security and stability.

Two days ago, Essebsi discussed with Chahed the agenda of the 16th session of the joint higher Egyptian-Tunisian committee.
