Media council chief meets Mufti on regulating religious discourse

CAIRO - 11 November 2017: Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Makram Mohamed Ahmed on Saturday held a meeting with Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam on ways to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields, including the regulation of religious discourse.

Ahmed said the two bodies alongside Al Azhar would promote coordination to ensure tackling religious issues within the framework of the upright teachings of Islam.

He added that all media shows are monitored.

For his part, Allam affirmed the need to carefully choose religious scholars who speak in media.
