SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt, Nov 7 (MENA) – Participants in a session titled “The Cultural Dimension of Globalization and Its Impact on Youth’s Cultural Identity”, held as part of the World Youth Forum in Sharm el Sheikh, stressed the importance of cultural openness and communication among peoples while maintaining their national identities.

"Globalization is a kind of colonization and the cultural globalization is a façade for an economic colonization,” Egyptian writer and scenarist Medhat el Adl said on Tuesday.

"Blocs of Arab countries such as the North African countries can unite and protect their identity, as well as the Gulf States," he added.

He called on the culture ministries in the Arab world to produce documentaries about their Arab identity.

A Vietnamese member of the Asian Leaders Initiative said that the Vietnamese culture has flourished through communication with other countries.
