CAIRO – 7 November 2017: The Interior Ministry announced the re-capture of two defendants who managed to escape while being transported to their custody in the case known as Helwan brigades.
The defendants, escaped in August, face charges relating to aiding and abetting escapee prisoners, resisting authority, and public property damage. These crimes are worthy of the death penalty.
The chaos began on the Autostrad in a suburb of Cairo. After an officer was shot during the incident, one prisoner stole the policeman’s revolver.
Security forces arrested five out of seven fugitives. Another prisoner was shot in the leg during a police chase.
