CAIRO – 6 November 2017: Former presidential candidate, Khaled Ali, announced on Monday that he will run for the upcoming presidential election due to be held in 2018 May.
The Marathon of the Egyptian presidential elections will start from February till may 2018.
In a press conference held at al-Dostor Party headquarters, Ali said that he is planning to launch his presidential campaign which depends on a socialist platform.
The human rights lawyer was given three months in prison on charges of violating public morals in September. Giza Misdemeanors Court sentenced Khaled Ali, the founder of the Bread and Freedom Party, to three months in prison and LE 1,000 ($56.70) on charges of committing an act of "public indecency", after he made an obscene remark while participating in a demonstration outside the State Council.
