Iraqi cabinet says parl't election on May 15

BAGHDAD - 1 November 2017: The Iraqi cabinet approved on Tuesday holding the parliamentary election on May 15, 2018, following a vote by Iraqi lawmakers.

In a statement published on Alsumaria news TV channel, the bureau of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi said the federal government was assigned to provide a safe environment for voters and bring back displaced people during the polls.

Parties with armed wings will not be allowed to take part in the election given that the vote process will be electronic, the statement read.
