CAIRO – 31 October 2017: A large number of militants were killed by airstrikes carried out by the Egyptian air forces upon orders issued by the general commander of the Armed Forces on Tuesday, said the Armed Forces spokesperson Tamer el-Refaai in a statement.

The airstrikes were launched on a hiding place along Al-Wahat (Oasis) road in a mountainous area west of Fayoum, the statement added.

“The strikes resulted in the destruction of three four-wheel-drive vehicles loaded with large quantities of weapons, ammunition and highly explosive materials,” the statement read.

On October 27, security forces killed 13 high-risk militants in clashes that took place along Wadi Gadid-Wahat road. A week earlier, a shootout between security forces and militants occurred when the forces besieged this point, resulting in the killing of 13 militants, some of them in military uniform, the statement said.
