CAIRO – 30 October: The 39th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) kicked off on Monday with the participation of 195 countries at the headquarters of the Organization of Education, Science, and Culture, Reuters reported.
The Committee meets once every two years, in the presence of member states and associate members with observers for non-member states.
The conference shall define the policies and main lines of the work of the organization, the working languages of the conference are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
The director general, Irina Bokova, stated that the 39th General Conference is taking place at a valuable time for the organization, and of reflection on the risks and present opportunities, according to Prensa Latina agency.
