CAIRO – 29 October 2017: Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry stated on Sunday that the meeting of foreign ministers and chiefs of staff in Riyadh confirms the unity of the coalition countries supporting the elected Yemeni government.

“Yemen suffers from political and security explosive situations as well as a dramatic humanitarian crisis that may be the worst in its modern history,” said Shoukry during his speech.

Shoukry stressed that elements of the political solution in Yemen are found in the United Nations Security Council resolution, the Gulf initiative and the outcomes of the national dialogue.

Specific parties still impede the resumption of political negotiations with the aid of foreign parties to impose their will on the Yemeni people, Shoukry said. He added that the way to end this crisis is to take charge without yielding ground.

Shoukry also said that Egypt’s position is unified with the other coalition members, who refuse any attempts of imposing powers. He added that a political solution is necessary and the international community must cooperate to achieve this.

“Egypt will never allow the security of Saudi Arabia to be threatened as it’s a part of Egypt’s national security and we will do our best to overcome our current challenges,” stated Shoukry.
