Agriculture minister: Egypt, ICARDA cooperation long-standing

CAIRO - 29 October 2017: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Abdel Moniem el Bana underlined the important role of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in achieving sustainable agricultural development in Egypt.

Addressing the inaugural session of ICARDA's council of trustees on behalf of the agriculture minister, Head of the Agricultural Research Center Mahmoud Madani said ICARDA is one of the key international organizations which aim at reducing poverty, supporting water and food safety as well as encouraging the sustainable usage of natural agricultural resources.

The minister also noted that ICARDA's objectives help in implementing the national agricultural recommendations of 2030.

He also reiterated that building the new premises of ICARDA in Egypt asserted the continued efforts of partnership between the two sides and the keenness of the international organization to expand its activities in Egypt, especially in the fields of agricultural research, hi-tech applications as well as climate change research.
