UAE Foreign Affairs Minister Anwar Gargash - Reuters
CAIRO – 24 October 2017: Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Anwar Gargash, highlighted the Qatari regime's “contradictory stances” on terrorism; the Qatari regime maintains an international image that it is anti-terroristic, while at the same time supporting it in the Middle East.
“The existential question is: can you adopt a position against extremism and terrorism in the west and simultaneously justify its existence and even support it in your sphere?”
Gargash consistently repeated that the solution to the ongoing rift can only emanate from Al-Riyadh and the Gulf tenant, not from New York or London.
Since June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have turned on Qatar with a complete air and trade boycott over allegations of its support and sponsorship of terrorism, which Doha denies.
Following the Arab boycott of Doha, a list of 13-demands was handed to Doha’s government by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain for reconciliation, which includes the closing of Al-Jazeera channel and the suspension of Qatar's relationship with the extremist government of Iran.
Since then, Qatar has resisted conciliation attempts, and has not exerted any efforts in disassociating itself from the terrorist groups which were proven to be harbored in and financially supported by Doha.
