CAIRO – 22 October 2017: Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove offered his condolences to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for the victims of Al-Wahat terrorist attack during their meeting Sunday.
According to a statement from the presidency, Cosgrove affirmed to Sisi that his country stands by Egypt in its war against terrorism.
President Sisi praised the strong and important relationship between Egypt and Australia, along with the importance of enhancing existing frameworks in various areas.
According to the statement, Sisi and Cosgrove’s meeting addressed ways to foster cooperation between the two countries in a range of fields, particularly trade and economic cooperation, as well as facilitating the entry of Egyptian exports into the Australian market.
Cosgrove’s schedule during his visit to Egypt included attending the 75th anniversary of the Alamein Battle. He visited Australian forces participating in the Multinational Force of Observers in the Sinai, the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier, and the tomb of late President Anwar Al Sadat.
