President Sisi stated in his speech that the memory of the thousands of victims who fell in that battle should “make all of us renew our pledge to maintain peace,” and to make all efforts to establish it across the Middle East, which is facing a dangerous crisis threatening the “nation state” concept.

The president added that this crisis bears unprecedented risks to the security, safety and properties of the region’s peoples, who are looking forward to “live with dignity and enjoy stability.”

He emphasized the role of the international community to deploy efforts and work hard with determination to fulfill the “legitimate aspirations of the peoples.”

Sisi affirmed that Alamein City represents a unique historical and geographic combination, and so the state has been eager to build New Alamein City, presenting an epitome of the importance of peace and reconstruction.

“We can defeat the pains of the past through the hopes of the future. We are making all efforts to make that future bright and fruitful,” the president said.

Some of the guests delivered speeches, such as the Australian general-Governor, and Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Sir Tim Lawrence highlighted the remarkable role of the Alamein Battle in World War II. They also praised Egypt’s role in preserving and reinforcing peace.
