WASHINGTON - 20 October 2017: The US military revealed on Friday that it has conducted a drone strike against the Somali Al Shabab extremist movement after Mogadishu terror attack, that left 700 people dead and wounded.

The air raid was carried out on Monday, 56 km away from southwestern the capital, Mogadishu, Fox News reported, quoting the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) as saying.

The US is still working on assessing the results of the operation.

The US conducted a number of drone strikes in Somalia since US President Donald Trump approved expanding military operations against al Shabab movement earlier in the year.

On Saturday Somalia has witnessed the country's deadliest attack when a booby-trapped car exploded killing about 300 people and injuring around 400 others.

The Somali government accused al Shabab terrorist movement of carrying out the attack while the movement hasn't claimed responsibility.
