GENEVA - 16 October 2017: Four Red Crescent volunteers were killed when two powerful truck bombs hit the heart of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday, leaving at least 276 people dead and about 300 more injured, in what authorities call the deadliest attack in the country's history.
In a statement, The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) mourned the loss of life of the volunteers.
"This figure may rise as there are a number of volunteers still missing", the statement read.
"As we continue to assess the situation on the ground, the toll remains unclear in the chaos following the blast", it added.
