Yemen denies supporting the Qatari candidate in UNESCO

CAIRO - 13 October 2017: The Yemeni Foreign Ministry denied Yemen’s support for Qatar’s candidate for the director general of UNESCO post, according to a statement by the foreign ministry on Friday.

The Yemeni government asserted its full support to the Arab Republic of Egypt in all international arenas.

“The Yemeni government supports and boosts the presence of Egypt in all international organizations as this will definitely reflect positively on the Arab issues,” the statement read.

The statement praised Egypt’s role in supporting Yemen’s case via its membership in the United Nations Security Council.
