CAIRO – 10 October 2017: Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai Dhahi Khalfan said that Qatar will not be able to completethe constructions necessary for the 2022 World Cup.
“I previously said that Qatar is making up a crisis and is claiminga blockadeis imposed on it in order to unburden itself of the World Cup’s expenses. This is my personal analysis which may be very close to the truth,”Khalfan wrote on Twitter.
Khalfanalso wrote that due to prices hiking, the cost Qatar has to bear to build the required stadiumis three times the comparable cost. “In my opinion, Qatar isnot prepared, will not be able to host the next tournament, and is blaming the neighboring countries for its failure,”Khalfan added.
Qatar has been hit by its biggest diplomatic crisis in years after Arab nations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut ties with it, accusing the country of destabilizing the region with its support for terroristgroups.
On October 7, BBC reported a top-secret study by management consultants, Cornerstone Global, saying that it is certainly possible that Qatar will not host the tournament due to “rising political risk.”
