CAIRO –10 October 2017:Fatah’s delegation arrived inCairo International Airport on Monday night, coming from Palestine through Jordan. The delegation will continue the reconciliation talks with Hamas that are organized by Cairo on Tuesday, Al-Wattan reported on Monday.
Fatah’s delegation is led by Central Committee and National Relations Commissioner Azzam al-Ahmad, other members of the central committee, Ahmad Hillis, Hussein al-Sheikh, minister of civil affairs,and the Commissioner General of Fatah International RelationsRawhiFattouh.
Spokesperson ofthe Fatah movement, Usama al-Qawasmi, said in an interview with the official Palestinian Authority (PA) radio station,Voice of Palestine, on Sunday that the main file to be discussed is enabling the unity government to execute its full duties in the Gaza Strip.
That is in addition tothe administration of the territory's border crossings, and all issues related to Gaza's economy and security, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported on Monday.
Qawasmi pointed out that meetings with Hamas would continue for three days depending on how talks progress starting Tuesday, PIC added.
Hamas’ delegation is expected to arrive inCairo within a few hours via Rafah’s border, in conjunction with the arrival of other Palestinian figures abroad.
The Social Reconciliation Accord in Cairo aimed to restore unity among Palestinian political factions in 2011, following four years of conflict since 2007. It was inked by the Egyptian authority in 2009, and was accepted by two parties in May 2011, following Palestinian demonstrations.
