Sisi rewards Nubian creator of October War Code

CAIRO – 10 October 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi rewarded Ahmed Edris who created the October War Code that was used to allow secret conversations among officers, in order to receive military instructions, Al-Arabiya reported.

Edris was awarded Monday the Order of the Sinai Star, which is Egypt's highest military honor.

“When I met the president, I told him that I kept the secret for four decades. Today I feel compensated for 40 years of military service,” said Edris.

Due to the secrecy needed to pass military instructions before and during the war, Edris suggested a code that uses the ancient Nubian language, which was only spoken by the Nubians, and is not a written one.
