CAIRO - 5 October 2017: Cairo criminal court on Saturday is set to consider an appeal filed by the general prosecution on a ruling to release two leaders of Al Gamaa Al Islamiya, Safwat Abdel Ghany and Alaa Abulnasr.
Both defendants are accused of inciting violence and terrorism in addition to organizing illegal anti-state armed protests.
Cairo criminal court ruled on Wednesday the release of both suspects with precautionary measures instead of being remanded in custody pending investigations.
They are among other defendants who face charges of joining an illegal organization, inciting violence, disrupting public peace and security and instigating against state institutions.
