Sisi places flowers on tombs of Abdel-Nasser, Sadat in 44th October victory anniversary
CAIRO – 4 September 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi asserted that Egypt is currently fighting a war on terror during his speech on the 44th anniversary of the October victories’ celebrations.
Sisi has also thanked the Egyptian people for their participation role in fighting terrorism, stressing that Egypt has proved for more than 40 years its ability to preserve the gains of peace and resisted any variables and barriers that seek to undermine development and stability.
Sisi stated that “October’s war is basically a war for peace and development," and continued to say that the victory of October is not just a military victory but a victory over despair and frustration.
He also stressed that Egypt has maintained the principles of justice and peace and always sought to achieve development and prosperity, assuring that Egypt managed to overcome all obstacles that threatened its civilization
Sisi placed flowers on the tombs of former Egyptian Presidents Gamal Abdel-Nasser and Muhammad Anwar el-Sadat, as part of the celebrations.
Sisi also placed another wreath of roses on the 'unknown soldier' tomb, as he was accompanied by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, Sedki Sobhy, and General Mahmoud Hijazi, chief of staff of the Armed Forces, as the national anthem was played.
Several senior state officials, commanders of the armed forces, and policemen, along with a number of leaders and heroes of the October war, attended the celebrations.
