UK’s Tory studies imposing legal ban on MB

CAIRO – 4 October 2017: Officials and activists in Britain's ruling Conservative Party on Monday launched an internal campaign to persuade Prime Minister Theresa May's government to impose a legal ban on the Muslim Brotherhood in the UK.

The campaign was held on the sidelines of the Conservative Party’s annual in Manchester to rally the support of its participants.

Dan Large, one of the leaders of the campaign, said their move came to encourage the British government to ban the Muslim Brotherhood, who pose a clear threat to the security of the United Kingdom.

"The Brotherhood is totally against the values of our society, because it relies on violence as a means to achieve its goals," Large told Sky News Arabia.

He added that the campaign will advance in the coming months to meet with the high officials in the British government to achieve the prohibition of the Brotherhood legally and to find an effective mechanism to halt their activities once and for all.

During the meeting, some leaders said that recent terrorist attacks in Britain made it necessary to reconsider the classification of the Muslim Brotherhood by London’s government.

"In 2014 and 2015, I reviewed the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood and published some of its findings, and I have concluded that there is confusion in their attitude towards extremism and terrorism," said Hugh Culver, former director of the Conservative Party.

Britain has witnessed a series of terror attacks in 2017, and there is no doubt that security services know there is a clear ideological link between the Muslim Brotherhood and terrorism, he added.
