CAIRO – 1 September 2017: Upon the orders of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali handed high school student Aya Taha a car.

Wali said that Sisi had promised to buy Taha a car during the fourth youth conference held in Alexandria in July, assuring that the president bought it from his own money and not the state budget.

Taha was diagnosed with muscle atrophy nine years ago, which prevented her from going to school. Because of her health, she relied on private lessons at home.

Taha was able to overcome her disability. She challenged the wheelchair and excelled in her studies to come in first place in the national Thanaweya Amma (high school) exam.
