CAIRO – 28 September 2017: Beni Suef Criminal Court sentenced the Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammed Badie, and 3 others to life imprisonment for the Beni Suef incidents that happened on August 14, 2013.
The defendants are accused of scheming a terrorist plot that aimed at vandalizing vital government facilities such as burning a police station and places of worship in Beni Suef after the dispersal of the Rabaa sit-in.
The defendants who are charged in this case amount to 93 including 25 in prison and 67 fugitives.
The Rabaa al-Adawiya protest was arranged by supporters of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in rejection to his ouster; and was dispersed by security forces in August 2013.
Badie also faces charges of forming an operations room to direct MB members to defy the government during the crackdown on the Rabaa protest camp and to spread chaos in the country.
