CAIRO - 28 September 2017: Mohamed El Seweidy, parliament member and leader of Egypt Support Coalition, said in a TV interview on Wednesday that the administrative body must be restructured because of the big number of ministries amounting to 33.
El Seweidy added that the prime minister must have two deputies, one for services and the other for economic affairs. The MP said that the government's role must be organizational only and that other institutions must assume the executive work in accordance with certain mechanisms.
On a side note, El Seweidy stated that the establishment of the Supreme Council for Payments to boost financial inclusion would eliminate cash transactions and inhibit tax evasion. The MP also stressed on the importance of developing the quality of education.
El Seweidy is currently running for a second term as leader of Egypt Support Coalition. Elections will be held on Sunday, October 1.
The Egypt Support Coalition opened the candidacy door for the position of the coalition’s leader, and membership of the political office, from Saturday to Monday, as the elections will be held on October 1.
The coalition comprises 317 parliament members; of which 216 are independent, and 101 are affiliated with seven parties that are Homat El Watan, Misr Balady, Mostaqbal Watan, El Moatamar, El Shaab El Gomhoury, El Horeya, and Misr El Haditha.
The coalition was founded in 2015 following the parliamentary elections.
