RAMALLAH – 27 September 2017:The Palestinian Fatah movement praised on Wednesday the Interpol’s decision to approve the membership of Palestine.

In statements, Fatah Spokesman Jamal Nazzal thanked the Palestinian leadership for its efforts to gain the membership of Interpol, despite Israeli pressures.

He also extended thanks to friendly countries, particularly Arab ones, which voted for Palestine.

Nazzal wished success for the Palestinian leadership in its bid to gain membership of more international organizations in the coming period in light of international recognition of the Palestinian state in 2012.

Palestine joined Interpol as a member state on Wednesday, a move opposed by Israel, in a vote at the international police organization’s general assembly in Beijing, Interpol said.

“The State of Palestine and the Solomon Islands are now INTERPOL member countries,” an Interpol tweet read.
