Egypt is among other countries that receive financial assistance for the Syrian refugees sheltered in each, in order to help them meet their specific needs for food, medication and education.

“The new funding also helps mitigate the impact of the crisis on governments and communities throughout the region that are straining to cope as they continue to generously host five million refugees from Syria,” the statement added.

Since 2012, the total sum of the U.S. humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees across the world has amounted to $140 million.

Egypt is currently host to 500,000 Syrian refugees, according to the official statics announced by the Foreign Ministry.
