CAIRO – 22 September 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Republic of Trinidad and Tobago counterpart Dennis Moses, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.

Egyptian candidate for the UNESCO director-general post Moshira Khattab attended the meeting between Shoukry and Moses as they discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to the promotion for Moshira Khattab to win the UNESCO post.

Egyptian foreign ministry’s official spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said both Shoukry and Moses exchanged political consultations on several fields such as agriculture, scientific research, health, gas and oil.

Shoukry underlined the necessity of coordination between the two countries at international and regional levels, most importantly at the United Nations over files of common interest including fighting terrorism and its dangerous impact on global stability, Abu Zeid added.

Abu Zeid said the promotion for Khattab to win the UNESCO director-general post due in October, 2017 was at the top of Shoukry’s agenda which he discussed with Moses, noting that it will be the right time for an Arab figure to hold this post as Khattab’s potentials and expertise will definitely contribute to this post.
