Cairo – 20 September 2017: The head of Hamas political bureau, Ismail Hania, showed gratitude to Egypt for its warm hospitality during the stay of Hamas representatives in Cairo. He said the two sides discussed a number of topics during the visit, including the developments in the region and the Palestinian issue, Hania said during a press conference in Gaza on Tuesday.
He added that the movement made a strategic plan with Egypt to ensure the latter’s security and stability.
Hania mentioned that they considered a number of topics during talks with Egyptian officials, on the top of which was the resumption of Palestinian national reconciliation under the Egyptian sponsorship, which seeks ending the division between two Palestinians pillars, announcing that they will meet the Palestinian National Liberation Movement “Fatah” in Cairo.
According to Hania, the talks first viewed the situation of the region and the Palestine issue. Second was the aspect of bilateral relations with Egypt, where Hamas decided to build a strategic relation with Egypt and reinforce it on all levels and within different fields.
The security file was also on the table of talks, where Hania acknowledged that Hamas is concerned about Egypt’s strength because it means the strength of the Arab region.
Finally, he mentioned that they discussed how to support the residents of Gaza Strip and decrease the siege they live under besides talking about the events at Al Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli plans to isolate the West Bank.
