Cairo – 12 September 2017: Apple's latest iPhone launch event was trending on all social media platforms on Tuesday. Tim Cook was onstage to unveil the iPhone 8, iPhone X and a host of other products.

During the event, Apple launched three new iPhones, as well as upgrades for the Apple Watch, Apple TV and AirPod wireless headphones.

The star of the show was the iPhone X, a premium version of Apple's flagship device. It will feature an all-screen display, facial recognition software and wireless charging. Apple is rumored to have priced the high-end iPhone X at a record £1,000 ($1,330), Telegraph reported on Tuesday.

2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone. The original iPhone unveiling, back in 2007, was arguably Steve Jobs' single most iconic moment at the company he cofounded. Still, Jobs' legacy is about more than just the iPhone, Cook said, according to Business Insider.

The event, which marks the official opening of the new Steve Jobs Theater, opens up to the sound of Jobs’ voice.

“One of the ways that I believe that people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out,” the late Jobs said.
After the tribute to Jobs, Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage. “It’s only fitting that Steve should open this theater,” he said to a packed audience, ABC News reported on Tuesday.

Apple Inc. rolled out a new version of the Apple Watch on Tuesday, marking the first introduction at the company’s biggest product launch in years, which was expected to showcase a completely redesigned top-of-the-line iPhone, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

The first major product announcement came from Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams, who revealed an Apple Watch that includes built-in cellular access. The previous version of the watch had required customers to carry a phone for internet access, Reuters added.

Gene Munster, an analyst with Loup Ventures, told Reuters that the sales of the watch could double or even triple because of the new connectivity. The cellular watch will cost $399.
Steve Jobs introduced the original iPhone on Jan. 9, 2007. It hit stores more than six months later, on June 29, 2007.
