CAIRO - 10 September 2017: Nine terrorists were killed and five policemen were injured in an exchange of fire during a raid by the Egyptian police forces in Ard el-Lewa in Giza on Sunday morning.
Security sources revealed to Youm7, that the police forces were able to seize firearms and explosive materials inside the hideouts of terrorists, stressing that the killed terrorists were members of Hasm movement and were preparing to conduct terrorist operations during the upcoming days.
The sources pointed out that a suicide bomber blew himself up in the area of Ard el-Lewa, one of the neighborhoods of Giza, after police raided his residential apartment.
Egyptian security forces are seeking to eliminate terrorist groups scattered in different parts of the country, but more heavily concentrated in Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
Last February, an Egyptian court of urgent matters designated the militant group Hasm a terrorist organization, banning its activity in the country.
Hasm has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks against Egyptian security personnel in recent months, mostly targeting police checkpoints, but security forces have arrested and killed dozens of suspected Hasm members in the past few months.
