Azhar imam arrives in Germany for peace conference

BERLIN, Sept 9 (MENA) - Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el Teyyeb arrived in Germany's Munster Saturday at an invitation by the Community of Sant'Egidio to take part in the 2017 international meeting of prayer for peace.

"Avenues of Peace. Religions and cultures in a dialogue" is the theme of the 2017 international meeting.

Egypt's Ambassador in Berlin Badr Abdel Aati will also take part in the conference that will last through September 12.

The grand imam will deliver a speech on inter-faith dialogue, combating extremism and promoting tolerance and peaceful co-existence among the different religions and cultures.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will give an opening address.
