NEW YORK - 8 September 2017: The United Nations said on Friday that number of people killed in the violence since August 25 in Myanmar has crossed 1,000.
Killings are mostly members of the Muslim Rohingya minority, Sky News channel reported.
About 164,000 mostly Rohingya civilians have fled to Bangladesh over just the past two weeks, overwhelming refugee camps that were already bursting at the seams.
More than a quarter of a million mostly Rohingya refugees have fled from Myanmar into Bangladesh since violence erupted, the UN said on Thursday.
The UN expressed concern about the crisis in Myanmar and urged authorities to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered into state of Rakhine.
Latest reports said that violence against the Rohingya minority Muslims erupted anew.
