CAIRO – 1 September 2017: The Ministry of Health and Population reported on Friday the death of two Egyptian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. The new deaths raised the number of Egyptian pilgrims who died during the 2017 pilgrimage to 17 deaths.
The head of the Egyptian Medical Mission to pilgrimage, Ahmed Al-Ansari, said that the two people died as a result of cardiac arrest. Al-Ansari announced the names of the two pilgrims as Fatma Dawod from Damietta governorate and Rauof Shaban from Dakahlia governorate.
The health ministry elaborated that the medical mission's emergency room in Mecca is coordinating with the concerned authorities to issue death certificates for the two pilgrims.
