KHARTOUM – 31 August 2017: Sudan’s Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour met on Thursday with a delegation of the US Congress and discussed bilateral relations and the progress with regard to the so-called Five Tracks Plan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the minister said Sudan has committed to what has been agreed upon and that it would continue cooperation in this regard, adding that Sudan expected the US to fulfill its pledges by lifting sanctions imposed against it in October.
For their part, the members of the Congress delegation lauded the regional role played by Sudan and stressed US desire to work together in all the files of bilateral cooperation along with the Five Tracks Plan.
The delegation also said that they were working for revocation of sanctions imposed on Sudan due to wide cooperation of the Sudanese government and the realities they have seen during their visit.
The two sides agreed to widen joint cooperation to cover all fields following revocation of sanctions.
Five Tracks Plan introduced by US as five key areas of concern, which included cooperation on counter-terrorism, ending support to South Sudanese armed opposition actors, and providing humanitarian access to populations in need.
