Egypt's FM congratulates Iraq on liberating Tal Afar

CAIRO - 31 August 2017: Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Thursday congratulated Iraq on liberating Tal Afar from terrorist Daesh group.

"It is great that celebration of Eidul Adha is coincided with congratulating our brothers in Iraq on the liberation of Tal Afar from Daesh," Abu Zeid tweeted.

He added that Daesh lost 90% of what it had seized in Iraq.

Earlier in the day, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of Tal Afar.

It was the last town still under the control of Daesh militants in Iraq's Nineveh province following the liberation of Mosul, about 45 miles to the east.
