CAIRO – 31 August 2017: Minister of Communications Ayoub Kara has retreated withdrawing licenses granted to Al-Jazeera offices in Jerusalem, Israeli newspaper Haartez reported on Wednesday.

In early August, Kara accused Al-Jazeera of supporting terrorism and announced plans to close offices in Jerusalem and to halt its press credentials. The plans came after its coverage of the clashes between Muslim worshippers and Israeli security forces at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The new decision came while the ministry started taking procedures for canceling the licenses. It was allegedly reported that officials of Al-Jazeera’s administration contacted the Israeli ministry and pledged to the Israeli government that it will not focus on human rights violations made by Israelis forces against Al-Aqsa Mosque.
