Egyptian president with Belarusian President last January in Egypt
CAIRO – 29 August 2017: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday during a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry that his country will abide by all the agreements with Egypt. He also sent a letter to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to visit Belarus.
He pointed out that his visit to Egypt last January was so successful, and he expressed his appreciation of Egypt, its leading role and its latest economic reforms. Lukashenko noted that his country finds great importance in its relations with Egypt, considering it as a window to the Arab and African region.
Shoukry conveyed Sisi’s message that stressed promoting relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening “cooperation” between them. He pointed out Egypt’s keenness to follow up on joint agreements and programs that were agreed upon last January, during the Belarusian president’s visit to Cairo.
Shoukry stressed Egypt's willingness to support negotiations on establishing a free-trade area between Egypt and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as strengthening the economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
Lukashenko arrived in Egypt on January 15 on a two-day visit, where he met Sisi at the Ittihadiyah Palace. The visit coincided with the 25th anniversary of establishing Egyptian-Belarusian diplomatic ties.
