CAIRO – 28 August 2017: Saud Al-Kahtany, an adviser in Saudi Arabia’s Royal Diwan, accused Qatar of having a role in deliberately provoking the Arab Spring uprisings as well as the incidents that took place in 2011.

Through sequential posts published by his official Twitter account, Al-Kahtany claimed that he was an eyewitness to what Qatar participated in to ignite incidents of the Arab Spring between 2011 and 2012, as he was frequently visiting Doha at that time.

On Twitter, Al-Kahtany addressed formed Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani alleging, “I remember when you used to give directions to media men of Al-Jazeera channel to broadcast protests in streets," describing the move as foolish.

He further alleged that he witnessed Hamad when he was giving orders to Qatari war plans to strike areas and to Qatari commandos to arrest peoples.

Al-Kahtany threatened Hamad with further details about toppling the authority that he could divulge.

Qatar is accused of supporting and funding terrorism in the region, besides harboring fugitive extremists who issued fatwas allowing the killing of civilians.

Tensions between Qatar and the other Arab Gulf states strained after Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani directed a message to the four Arab countries - Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain - that “being hostile to Iran is unwise.”
