High committee of prisons discuss presidential pardon of prisoners

CAIRO - 28 August 2017: Representatives from the high committee of prisons and other sectors convened to discuss the presidential pardon of prisoners before the Eid Al-Adha feast, according to a security source.


The meeting was held under the auspices of Mustafa Shehata, the assistant minister of interior for prisons’ affairs, and representatives from national security and public security to study the list of prisoners that would be eligible for a presidential pardon before Eid Al-Adha feast.


In a special statement to Egypt Today, the source added that the committee examined whether the prisoners meet the terms, regulations and provisions stated in the pardon decision to determine who will be eligible of said pardon. The committee will proceed with releasing the prisoners upon the completion of the examination results.
