CAIRO – 27 August 2017: 485 Palestinian pilgrims crossed the Rafah border crossing on Sunday evening, heading to the Cairo International airport to travel to Saudi Arabia for hajj. Rafah is the sole crossing point between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

The pilgrims, who are relatives of martyrs of the Gaza Strip, were transferred from Rafah crossing to the airport by eight buses, an Egyptian source from the crossing said.

The Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip is open for two days, August 27-28, and it will re-open on both sides. The crossing will allow humanitarian cases and Palestinian pilgrims to cross during Eid al-Adha, according to the source.
