CAIRO – 25 August 2017: The British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt, met Thursday with Egypt’s Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar.
Burt stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries to tackle security challenges, curtail increasing terrorist operations and eliminate the danger of terrorism in the region where it may arise.
“It’s very necessary to strengthen and broaden the information exchange system tracking their movements, as continuous pressures on terrorist organizations will nag them to seek new homes in other countries,” Burt added.
“I appreciate the Egyptian security efforts in combating terrorism and securing tourist attractions and resorts,” said Burt. He also expressed Britain’s desire to increase the rate of British people visiting Egypt.
Highlighting the most significant security developments and local efforts to secure tourist attractions, seaports and airports, Abdel Ghaffar welcomed cooperating with Britain in exchanging technical and training expertise.
Britain, Germany, and Belgium had restricted travel to the well-known tourist destination Sharm el-Sheikh following the Russian plane crash that took place in October 2015, while Russia had suspended flights to Egypt in general up to now.
