CAIRO - 24 August 2017: The 100th session of the Arab League (AL) Economic and Social Council kicked off here on Thursday.

The session is held at the ministerial level under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting is expected to discuss preparations for the coming Arab session, which will be held in Riyadh in March 2018, as well as follow up the implementation of decisions taken during the Arab-African summit held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, in 2016.

The gathering will also probe aspects of cooperation between the Arab League and the UN, as well as preparations for a reconstruction and development conference in Sudan.

The event will tackle measures that could be taken to help Yemen face epidemics, mainly cholera.
