CAIRO – 21 August 2017: Twitter and other Media platforms will live stream the total solar eclipse of 2017 on Monday that will be witnessed in the United States of America.

Twitter is leading a hot pursuit of the solar eclipse of 2017 which is about to occur today on Monday within few minutes. This platform together with other media platforms and the weather channel will cover the great breathtaking event in the U.S.

"The total solar eclipse will be visible in America today [Monday] and it coincides with the sunset in Egypt and the Arab region, which is why it will not be visible in the sky of the Arab Gulf States," said Dr. Hatem Odeh, head of the National Institute of Astronomical and Geophysical Research.

Dr. Odeh pointed out that the follow-up of this great astronomical event called the ‘Great American Eclipse’ will be aired on internet websites, social media and television channels.

The total solar eclipse will be visible from a narrow corridor through the U.S., and can be watched for the first time from the ground shortly after 10 a.m.

According to Odeh, the estimated longest period for the total solar eclipse will be two minutes and 41.6 seconds at Janet Park, Illinois State, and the maximum range would be near Sirulan, Kentucky, confirming that this is the first total solar eclipse seen from the southeastern U.S. since the last solar eclipse occurred on March 7, 1970.
