Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov
CAIRO – 21 August 2017: Egypt and Russia have affirmed supporting of ‘political solution’ to end the Syrian crisis, both foreign ministers stated during a joint press conference in Moscow Monday.
“We encourage the Syrian platforms in Cairo and Moscow to keep cooperation with the Egyptian authorities so as to accomplish political solutions that end the Syrians’ suffering,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said as he praised the Egyptian role in reaching an end to the Syria’s prolonged tragedy.
For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry highlighted the Egyptian sincere endeavors to increase the number of the de-escalated zones in Syria.
Shoukry is holding a joint meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Monday to boost bilateral political, economic and commercial relations.

Shoukry has delivered a written message from President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to Russian President Vladmir Putin, stressing the importance of the bilateral relations between Cairo and Moscow.
Moscow is the first stop in a three-leg European tour by Shoukry aiming to enhance Egyptian relations with Russia, Lithuania and Estonia.
