CAIRO – 21 August 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi arrived Monday at the headquarters of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) to participate in the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the official statistical agency.
The celebration is marking the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the agency.
The event began by screening a documentary film on the history of CAPMAS. President Sisi is expected to honor a number of the employees at the agency.
A documentary featuring the history of the Central Auditing Organization was screened during the ceremony.
According to the film, the CAO was originally created as the Divan of Accounting in 1942 as an instrument of public finance control.
Its name was changed to Divan of Auditing in 1960, before acquiring its current designation in 1964.
Following the documentary, CAO chairman Hisham Badawi addressed the gathering and welcomed President Sisi in the Diamond Jubilee of the organization.
He said the CAO is considered one of the oldest regulatory and public finance control bodies at international and regional levels.
Over the years, the organization played an effective role in assessing government performance, revealing many corruption cases and rationalizing financial policies, Badawi said.
