Court fines Hisham Genena for al-Zind defamation

CAIRO – 19 August 2017: Cairo’s Criminal Court headed by Counselor Galal Abdel Latif, ordered on Saturday the fining of Hisham Genena, head of the Central Auditing Organization, with L.E. 60,000 ($ 3,380) over charges of insulting former Justice Minister Ahmed al-Zind.

It further referred the case to the relevant court.

Investigations Judge Safaa El-Din Abaza, has referred Genena and other three journalists to criminal court, after investigating with them over a lawsuit filed by Zind.

The lawsuit accused the aforementioned group of defaming al-Zind by publishing false information against him, and the judicial institutions.
